We would like to acknowledge that we've been privileged to complete our studies on Treaty 1 territory; the traditional gathering place of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene people and the traditional homeland of the Métis people.

Montana Conrad

As a passionate graphic designer with curiosity for exploration and innovation, this year has been such a fun journey of creativity and discovery. Embracing the joy of hands-on craftsmanship and the thrill of experimenting with new mediums has definitely been a highlight this year. I take so much joy in diving deeply in each project to uncover its purpose and significance. Every aspect of my work carries personal meaning, down to the smallest details like the delicate pink thread sewn into my jean pieces—a precious memento passed down from my great-grandfather, who once owned a quaint store in my beloved hometown of St. Alphonse. These connections to my roots infuse my designs with a unique blend of nostalgia, passion, and authenticity, making each piece a testament to my journey and experiences.

This project has turned into a passion project….

Pearl Hearts is a cowboy boot company encouraging to love yourself. At Pearl Hearts we design boots to fit your body. We are not the usual boots that you have to fit into, and we definitely not the boots that you will keep in the closet until you get the perfect body. You are perfect exactly as you are now.

Pearl Hart was a Canadian born outlaw, the “Bandit Queen,” in the 50s. A woman that went down in history because she was a woman that had a “man’s job.”

At Pearl Hearts, our brand is rich with symbols embodying the strength and resilience of women. Pearls symbolize independent elegance, while wild flowers adversity. Hearts are the core, signifying self-love. Together, these symbols converge to create more than boots; they tell a story of empowerment, celebrating the unique spirit of women with elegance, resilience, and self-love in every step with your brand new boots.

Zach Bryan Album Covers

Zach Bryan is one of my favourite country artists, so when the chance arose to learn from an experienced album designer, I couldn’t resist reimagining his work! During my research, I noticed that most of Zach’s albums feature photographs, sparking the idea of bringing a fresh perspective through illustration. The project focused on his EP, “Boys Of Faith,” comprising five heartfelt songs. I dove deep listening to each track, trying to uncover their hidden meanings. Each piece of art symbolizes the song creating a cohesive and meaningful visual narrative for the album.

Font Design

  • Typography

My font serves a highly specific purpose. As I venture into crafting my own cowboy boot brand, meticulously designing the distinctive style of boots and packaging, a custom font would truly tie everything together, making this brand uniquely mine. Right from the beginning, I envisioned a decorative display font that shines in larger sizes, primarily for print use. However, I encountered a challenge while searching for a suitable font for my brand.  They were either thick sans-serifs or the bold serif styles often associated with the “wild west” theme. Striking a balance between these extremes proved elusive, especially without breaking the bank on pricey fonts.

What I’m after is a font that exudes rustic charm and trendy appeal, with a touch of femininity. This font would not only elevate my cowboy boot brand but also find versatile applications in areas like clothing brands, country album covers, and packaging designs.
